Processed Foods Contribute to Obesity Epidemic
It sure appears that fast foods and processed foods are contributing to the declining health and obesity of our nation. When you understand what is done in the food manufacturing process, you find that they are refining things down by removing natural nutritional components. Then they add back in synthetic vitamins and minerals that are not as recognizable to the body as the original natural ingredients. They are also adding in hydrogenated oils and corn sweeteners like fructose and other sweeteners with chemical additives and preservatives.
Now instead of getting all the nutrition our grandparents used to get when they ate fresh unprocessed foods. We are getting processed foods that are depleted of their natural nutritional components and these foods are not providing the nutrition that we should be getting.
This is the opposite of what we should have in our diet. It's not hard to understand that this contributes to obesity and the declining health of our society. The standard diet that most North Americans eat whether it's packaged food, fast food or junk food is not giving them the nutrients they need to be healthy and fit.
